Starts cooperation with the Latvian College of Culture

The Latvian College of Culture is one of the most experienced colleges in Latvia that offers 20 study programmes, including a programme that is developed for culture managers with a specialisation in lighting design.

The aim of the programme is to prepare competitive specialists who have theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the basics of lighting design, as well as knowledge in lighting control systems, programming, service and all areas related to this field.

In 2015, the Latvian College of Culture signed a cooperation agreement with SGS Sistēmas, which thanks to the status of exclusive representative of MA Lighting products in Latvia will supply the college with lighting control systems and will participate in the implementation of learning projects based on the MA Lighting University programme.

Currently, the students of the lighting design programme can get to know and use the MA Lighting control systems MA Lighting on PC Command Wing, which improve the quality of studies, provide practical skills, let one carry out the first lighting design projects during studies, by using the Command Wing Lighting control systems.

The learning process of future lighting design specialists is created and implemented in accordance with the learning programme guidelines of MA Lighting University, in cooperation with SGS Sistēmas specialists.

As the manager of SGS Sistēmas, Normunds Eilands, acknowledges: "We are very pleased that finally it is also possible to get professional education in the field of lighting design in Latvia, because up to this point all specialists of this field had no choice other than to learn on their own or study abroad. There is a high demand for qualified lighting designers and system engineers both in Latvia and Europe, and a lack of knowledgeable specialists is noticeable at every step. SGS Sistēmas accepted the cooperation offer with real pleasure and enthusiasm. We want there to be new, capable professionals in this field, who will be able to develop and raise the standards of the field in the future. We believe that it is our task to contribute to the education of future specialists.
